The Relationship Between Electrolyte, Water And Noni Juice
Requirement for Salt and Water in Our System
We have the requirement for salt and water in our system. Most representations from the medical community about how much sodium you should take and shouldn’t take are distorted by two things. One, sodium was designed to work with potassium in a given ratio. And the optimal level of potassium for our system is between 5.0 and 5.2. And the average around the world on the modern diet is a potassium of 4.0 to 4.5, which is very inadequate.
The other thing is that the estimates of what sodium you should be taking have never been correlated with how much water you’re actually drinking. They’ve never looked at the fact that you need to be staying hydrated and to keep the volume up, you need the salts to keep the water in the body.
So, many people find themselves walking around day by day by day with at least a liter or more of their fluid volume restricted. Now, what will happen during that period of time is your blood vessels can squeeze down. They can constrict around that smaller volume.
It does not give you full blood flow to all the tissues, but it gives you some. Just like if you’ve got a garden hose and you put your thumb over the end of it, when there’s only a small amount of pressure you can squirt it further. You don’t get a lot of volume out there, but you can squirt it further. Now, that’s what happens when you constrict the blood vessels around that.
Now, that can also, just by being dehydrated and having those blood vessels clamp down, give you high blood pressure. And you’d think that if you were volume depleted that your blood pressure would be normal or low normal and it’s not true for many people, depending on how much the blood vessels are clamped down. There are a lot of people that run around with low blood pressure. And every time that they stand up quickly they get dizzy. They’ve been known to tie their shoes or pick something off the floor, and when they straighten up they get dizzy.
Those are signs of low blood volume and dehydration. What happens when you take Tahitian Noni® Juice? Within 10 minutes, you’ve dilated blood vessels all over the body. As a result, that compensating constriction that allowed some degree of blood flow out into the tissues is now opened up and you get a lower degree of blood flow out there – slow delivery of food and oxygen, slow washout of the wastes and you feel achy and tired and no energy.
What should you do then? Simply fill them up with electrolytes, American favorite is Gatorade. When you fill them up with electrolytes and water then they’ve got full profusion and they feel great. But when the system is not full and the blood vessels don’t constrict back around it they feel very, very tired, achy, do not feel well and do not have energy.
Now when you open up the blood vessels all over the body, you’ve reduced the major workload of the heart tremendously. The heart can then relax and actually pump out more volume. You can actually increase the cardiac output that way. When you’ve opened up the arteries to the kidneys it means you’re putting more blood into the kidneys and you get more urine out.
So, you have an increased requirement for salt and water because you are putting out more urine but in a normal healthy way. You’re not being squeezed like a diuretic. It’s because of the increased level of function.
So, you can have someone that is fully hydrated, take Noni but not take enough salt and water to maintain, and three weeks or a month later they’re saying “I’m achy, I’m tired, I’m out of energy. Noni’s not working for me. Maybe I have to take more.” And the more Noni they take the less energy they feel. And finally they say, “Well Noni’s not working for me anymore.”
That’s not the question of Noni. All they have to do is fill it back up with electrolyte and water and then they can go back to being full of energy and increased ability to work and exercise.
Home Made Electrolyte Solution
Precaution: Now we do recommend a home made electrolyte solution. For the people that do not have end stage renal failure, where they’re limited on their potassium, where they’re not taking the potassium sparing diuretics. There are diuretics that are designed to keep the potassium in the body. These people we exclude from this and they generally know their condition. So, this does not apply to them.
But the home made electrolyte replacement solution that we’re talking about and it’s very inexpensive, is using a product called Morton Light Salt. There’s another product out there called Half Salt. But the essential requirement with both of them is that they have 50% of the sodium of regular salt because it’s been replaced by potassium compounds, a mixture of potassium chloride, citrate, carbonate and some other things.
So, you now have the ability to take in as part of your daily intake, enough potassium so that you can fulfill your requirements for potassium and then function at a much higher level.
And what we do is we have people put a heaping three quarters of a teaspoon of light salt in a liter of water, flavor it to taste with their combination of fruit juices, generally a squeeze of lemon and lime and a splash of some type of grape, cherry, pomegranate, apple, whatever you want. And you end up with something that has a light fruity taste and a little bit of sweet and sour, not a heavy sugar load, no preservatives. And we ask these people over three to five days, if they drink a liter every day, plus a liter of water, and then about a half-liter a day, plus 1 liter to 2 liters of water every day for maintenance. And then they can stay healthy.
Now, if they’re out exercising a lot or working in an area where they sweat a lot, the requirements for replacing salt and water may be significantly higher. And you just basically use electrolyte solution like our home made Gatorade for one third of your total fluid replacement. And then, it doesn’t matter if you’re drinking three liters a day or six or eight or twelve. Your kidneys will be able to maintain it at a proper balance.
Now, what do you do with someone that has high blood pressure? When you’ve got high blood pressure the kidney’s been sensitized to sodium for any of a number of reasons. And we generally recommend, then, that people take Tahitian Noni® Juice at 4 ounces a day – 2 ounces twice a day and drink at least 2 liters of water a day and preferably 3.
Watch over two weeks what their blood pressure does. As it comes down, and for most of the people it will be coming down, after two weeks you can then add in 8 ounces of our electrolyte solution every other day for a week and watch what the blood pressure does.
As it continues to come down, then you go to 8 ounces every day with an additional 1 liter to 2 liters of water. And these people then have improvement in their heart function, their kidney function, their blood pressure and they’re staying adequately hydrated.
